Justin Timberlake’s Oedipus Issue

US Weekly (July 30, 2007) makes the claim that Justin Timberlake, is dating a woman, starlet Jessica Biel, who looks eerily like his mother, Lynn Harless.  Of course, this type of attraction would not be news to Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern psychotherapy, who, if alive, might enjoy seeing his theories of son-to-mother lust played out in the pages of a celebrity magazine.  But although we admit to seeing some physical resemblance between the two women (Biel and Harless), we’re confident that JT—who had brought “sexy back” with his new album, only to see it recently lost again (blame John Travolta in Hair Spray)—does not.  Moreover, we’re hopeful that he is with Jessica not because of some misplaced psychosexual yearnings, but for a really good and masculine reason: that she was once Derrick Jeter’s (shortstop for the New York Yankees) girlfriend.
