Dancing With The Stars Continuously Justifies Its Existence

In case you missed it, last Monday Jennie Garth rebounded from a bad performance to the awe of the crowd with a mambo with hottie Derek Hough. After this swooping display of grace under pressure, judge Bruno Tonioli’s commentary was something to the like of “This is why the show was created. This is what makes it such a great competition. Week in and week out, you never know who will come out with the best performance. Truly marvelous.”
Then following former Spice Girl Melanie Brown’s own little dance number, she told interviewer Samantha Brown how much fun she had doing the routine. Samantha responded, “This is why we are here – to enjoy ourselves and have some fun.”
Later, contestant Cameron Mathison explained, “I’m here to win it!!”
Marie Osmond who recently scored a 27 on her collapse and pass-out and a 21 on the dance that preceded it told the judges, “I came here to push myself and try new things I never thought I could do before.” The judges enthusiastically supported her position by explaining why the show was created and why they are there.
But what is the show really about? Fun? Dexterity and Endurance? Pride? A chance to dance with hottie Derek Hough?
No, it’s apparently about getting B-list celebs to lose weight. Don’t you watch E! or VH1 or Dr. Hollywood?—Jennie keeps talking about dancing as a serious “work-out” and by "work-out" we all know she means getting rid of serious poundage.
I do wonder what will happen tonight. Who will win? Who will lose? What are we really all doing here?
